Diving Center in Calabria, Southern Italy, for technical and recreational diving.

Megale Hellas Diving Center is active since 2007 in Calabria, a Region in the far South of Italy, a reign for the most demanding scuba divers. Situated in an ideal location, literally in the heart of the Mediterranean, it lies between the Ionian and Tyrrhenian Sea, with the Strait of Messina separating it from Sicily. The sea around Calabria is abundant in fish, cliffs, reefs and shipwrecks.

Crossroads of navigation since ancient times, the Calabrian Ionian coastline was along the route of the shipping convoys of the Second World War. On this course, at different depths of the sea bed, more than 20 different types of wrecks can be found. Many shipwrecks are in excellent condition and as such represent a major tourist attraction, an important historical heritage and a true magnet for divers of all categories, especially for technical divers. Furthermore, nowadays all these wrecks, 80 years after their sinking, have turned into biodiversity's oasis, offering a refuge to fish and other marine animals.

The Megale Hellas Diving Center is  located in the small town of Marina di Gioiosa Ionica, on the coast of the Ionian sea. The well-equipped base makes a great starting point and provides all the needed logistics to divers. You can dive with air, nitrox or trimix, you can complete a diving course, but also take long diving holidays, while leaving the diving equipment in the center during that time. The center provides more than 80 diving tanks, a few double ones as well and stages, while refilling is facilitated by two compressors and a booster. A minibus service is provided to interesting locations, where you can dive from the shore, while reaching some shipwrecks that are further away from the shore is enabled by a rubber boat of 7,5 m in length. 

The managers of the diving center Megale Hellas are Roberta and Francesco, both SSI technical diving instructors. Together with their team, they take good care of the operating of the center, as well as of safety of each dive and satisfaction of divers, to whom they reveal the most beautiful locations of the underwater world of Reggio Calabria.
