Baltictech 2024 – looking Back at the Previous Edition!

Nearly 1,000 participants, guests from 21 countries, 39 exhibitors, and two days filled with inspiring encounters, extraordinary stories, and the latest diving technologies. This was the 11th edition of Baltictech, held on November 23–24, 2024, in Gdynia, Poland. With Baltictech 2026 just around the corner, let's look back at the highlights of the previous conference before we meet again.

Gdynia - Once Again the Capital of Diving

In November 2024, the Main Library of the Polish Naval Academy in Gdynia once again became a meeting place for the international diving community. Divers, explorers, scientists, underwater photographers, instructors, and representatives of the world's leading diving brands gathered in Poland for this special event.

Participants from 21 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Germany, Italy, and New Zealand, created a truly unique atmosphere. Baltictech once again demonstrated that diving is much more than a sport or a passion – it is above all about people united by their curiosity and fascination with the underwater world.

Extraordinary Wrecks, Discoveries, and Stories from the Deep

Wreck exploration, particularly in the Baltic Sea, was one of the main themes of Baltictech 2024.

One of the most talked-about presentations came from the Baltictech exploration team, who shared the story behind one of the most widely publicised underwater discoveries in recent years – a shipwreck carrying bottles of champagne. The remarkable find, behind-the-scenes details of the expedition, and firsthand accounts of the underwater search captivated the audience.

The conference also featured fascinating stories of international exploration. Emma Ahlen took participants on a journey through the extraordinary shipwrecks of Swedish waters, while Alex Dawson demonstrated how underwater photography can bring the stories of sunken ships to life, making them accessible even to those who have never dived.

These presentations offered not only an opportunity to discover new places and remarkable finds but also plenty of inspiration for future expeditions.

Knowledge, Experience, and Diving Safety

Baltictech is about much more than exploration and underwater adventures. Diving medicine, safety, and human physiology also played an important role in the conference programme.

One of the most memorable presentations was Zdzisław Sićko's lecture, "Senior Diver", which explored the challenges of diving at an older age. A packed lecture hall and lively audience discussion highlighted the importance of health and longevity in diving.

Professor Jacek Kot's presentations were also highly appreciated. He addressed the effects of diving on hearing and examined risk factors in recreational diving based on data from DAN Europe.

This combination of scientific knowledge, practical experience, and real-life stories from underwater expeditions has long been one of the defining features of the Baltictech Conference.

39 Exhibitors and the Latest Diving Technologies

The EXPO area, spread across two floors of the conference venue, attracted enormous interest throughout the weekend. A total of 39 exhibitors showcased the latest innovations and equipment for recreational, technical, and professional divers.

Among the product highlights was the Garmin Descent X50i dive computer, featuring a large 3-inch touchscreen display. SANTI introduced its new Edge drysuit and an undersuit, while Kwark presented its latest solutions in heated diving apparel.

Visitors also had the opportunity to explore advanced rebreathers, underwater scooters, lighting systems, and specialised equipment designed for wreck exploration and deep diving.

The military exhibition stands were another major attraction, offering visitors a closer look at equipment used in professional underwater operations, including specialised underwater robots.

The exhibition area was not just about discovering new products. It was also a place to meet manufacturers, exchange experiences, discuss technical solutions, and explore the technologies shaping the future of diving.

Baltictech Is All About People

While the lectures and exhibition area kept participants engaged throughout the weekend, what happened between the presentations was just as important.

Conversations behind the scenes, meetings with diving legends, exchanging experiences, and planning future expeditions together have always been an essential part of Baltictech.

The evening social event at the Polish Naval Academy gave participants an opportunity to connect in a more relaxed atmosphere and continue conversations started during the conference.

The final prize draw also brought plenty of excitement. Thanks to the generosity of the sponsors, participants had the chance to win some exceptional prizes, including a SUEX XJ Goldfinder underwater scooter, a Halcyon Symbios system, an Avatar Airon drysuit, and a wide range of diving equipment and accessories.

Behind the smooth organisation of the event was also a dedicated team of 62 volunteers, who supported the conference with logistics, guest assistance, and translation services.

Baltictech 2026 – The Next Chapter in Underwater Exploration

Baltictech 2024 left us with countless memories, new friendships, fresh inspiration, and ideas for future expeditions. It also demonstrated just how strong, diverse, and passionate the international diving community truly is.
