CCR Instructor, Technical Diver, Cave & Wreck Explorer
Marek Cacaj is a closed-circuit rebreather (CCR) instructor with over 20 years of diving experience. An experienced technical and wreck diver, he is a member of the Baltictech team and has discovered numerous shipwrecks in the Baltic Sea. For years, he has been involved in underwater exploration, documenting places that remain inaccessible to most divers.
He combines his technical diving expertise with a passion for underwater documentation and innovative imaging technologies. He has extensive experience in underwater film production, having worked on projects for National Geographic and Discovery, as well as the film Orzeł: The Last Patrol.
He is currently involved in projects that combine the exploration of unknown underwater environments with photogrammetry, 3D modelling and virtual reality technology.
Title: M-VR360 - Mallorca Exploration Project
Exploration and Digital Reconstruction of Mallorca's Underwater Caves
The MVR360 project combines exploratory diving, advanced underwater documentation techniques and virtual reality technology to bring the hidden world of flooded caves closer to audiences who would otherwise never have the opportunity to experience it.
During his presentation, Marek Cacaj will share the story of exploring newly discovered cave systems in Mallorca and the process of documenting them in detail. The team uses underwater photogrammetry, 3D modelling and 360° imaging technology to accurately reconstruct cave environments and bring them into virtual reality.
The presentation will demonstrate how technical diving and underwater exploration experience can be combined with modern technologies to create immersive experiences, allowing audiences to virtually enter places that remain inaccessible to most people.
It is a story of discovery, documentation and finding new ways to showcase the underwater world, from the shipwrecks of the Baltic Sea to the flooded caves of the Mediterranean.
