Stanisław Skrzyński has been involved in the research and development of underwater technologies for many years. He led research teams that carried out pioneering work in Poland on the development and implementation of technologies used both in industry and for military applications. He has also educated and mentored numerous specialists and researchers who continue to develop the fields of research and practical application that he helped establish.
Title: Saturation Diving on the Polish Continental Shelf
Since 1995, saturation diving has become a regular part of operations in Poland's economic zone in the Baltic Sea. Petrobaltic played one of the key roles in implementing this technology in Poland, while the Department of Underwater Technology at the Polish Naval Academy in Gdynia served as the research centre where related scientific studies were conducted. Cooperation between these two organisations has continued uninterrupted for more than 30 years.
The author of this presentation was one of the people directly involved in this process. He will explain how saturation diving in Poland progressed from scientific research to practical industrial applications, what conditions and limitations accompanied its development, and what made operations on the Polish continental shelf unique. He will also highlight the achievements and contributions of the people who initiated and participated in this process.
Discussion Panel: Diving Bells, Chambers, Engineers and Divers
Moderator: Adam Olejnik
Panelists: Karina Kowalska and Stanisław Skrzyński
A discussion about the development of underwater technology in Poland, with a particular focus on 50 years of activity of the Department of Underwater Technology at the Polish Naval Academy.
On 29 November 1976, an experimental underwater engineering research team was established at what was then the Polish Naval Academy. Its first head was Commander Medard Przylipiak. The team continues its work to this day.
The starting point for the discussion will be a book dedicated to the history of the Department, prepared to mark its 50th anniversary. Karina Kowalska, the book's author, and Stanisław Skrzyński, its co-author and long-time head of the Department, will discuss the people, research, engineering projects, achievements and challenges that have shaped the past half-century.
The discussion will be moderated by Adam Olejnik, who also served for many years as Head of the Department.

On 29 November 1976, an experimental underwater engineering research team was established at what was then the Polish Naval College. Its first head was Commander Medard Przylipiak. The team continues its work to this day.
The discussion will be based on a book documenting the Department's history, prepared to mark its 50th anniversary.
The book's authors, Karina Kowalska and Łukasz Jaczun, together with Stanisław Skrzyński, who headed the Department for many years, will discuss the people, research, technological developments, achievements and challenges of the past five decades.
The panel will be moderated by Adam Olejnik, who also served as Head of the Department for many years.
